WHEN DOLPHINS ATTACK!!!Friday 18th May Ok this is one for the grand kids....A few days ago I was surfing at the local, about eight in the morning, pumping 6ft and grinding. I'd only had a couple of waves. I rode a grower all the way through the inside. (I must add that a few months earlier my good mate from Denmark, Shanzy had a freak accident when a dolphin launched out of a wave and landed on his back, snapping his board and leash in two and cracking a few ribs...this was an insane tale.) Anyway, so I'm paddling back out and I see this dolphin surfing in the wave in front of me. I've seen this countless times before but not since the story about Shanzy. So immediately I think of his encounter and think to myself shit!!! I don't trust this thing and I had a really strange feeling about it when all of a sudden this dolphin launches out of this wave heading straight for me. I'm looking it eye to eye when I duck under as quick as I can, it grazes my head and lands on the back of my leg knocking me off my board sending me flying. I was in shock and thought I'd broken my leg for sure. Looking at the photos of my board it landed on me pretty square because I think the chunk in the nose is from its tale and the big chunk right where my leg was toward the tail of my board looks like it may have been its side fin. Turns out no breaks for the leg just a hematoma/ blown out calf muscle and a lot of pain but to tell you the truth I got very lucky. So this leaves me with the question was this an error of judgement on this dolphins behalf or was it an angry fucker trying to take me out. Believe me it seemed as if it was going for me. Either way I don't trust the little fuckers after those 2 stories...I researched a lot to find ''dolphin hitting people'' incidences and could only find 2 cases where on 2 separate occasions the dolphins had launched into a boat. One only spraining a womans ankle the other in NZ sending a woman into intensive care. I'd love to hear of any other stories If anyone has any please hit us up on our FB page. CRAZY TIMES!!Monday 30th April The last 2 weeks has been a bit of a mad whirlwind...From Malibu to visiting my sponsor in San Diego then to Hollywood where we hit the Viper Room and got tattoos at 3 in the morning. From there we were off to Coachella for 3 days of music and madness(see good times gallery) then a few days in Vegas at the Hard Rock to top it off. Then it was a drive back to LA on a plane to Melbourne then Perth and straight in the car for a six hour drive home. One night in our own bed then it was back on the road to go see our old boy perform in his bands reunion show to a sell out crowd at the Wintersun Hotel. CALIFORNIATuesday 17th April Cort's and I are currently in California staying at Kevin Zingers, the owner/founder of my clothing sponsor SRH. He lives in a mad pad in Malibu beach. We have just arrived and have been settling in. This morning we braved the icy water and went for a surf and then travelled up the coast to meet up with our good buddy Yadin Nicol who is now living over here. We also met his new born grommy Corona for the first time. Here's a few pics from today....will keep you posted with more as the week progresses.
